Othello: Iago's Shame
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing Iago's ability to deceive as presented in Act III Scene 3. Iago exhibits the behavior of the "frog years" of middle school, where normal children begin to learn the real lessons of life and the value of honesty in relationships. If they learn well enough, those entering middle school as frogs emerge as higher forms. Iago never continued that progression of maturation, if indeed he ever began it. As an adult, he has a much wider repertoire of methods of infecting others with his malicious, murderous ability to hate. Bibliography lists 1 source.

Othello: Shakespeare, Welles and Parker
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing Orson Welles' and Oliver Parker's film adaptations of Shakespeare's play. The first genius here is that of William Shakespeare, in his compelling and gripping tragedy featuring a story of racism that is as applicable today as it was 400 years ago. The second is that of Orson Welles, in his dramatic use of visual supports underscoring the powerful story. Then there's Oliver Parker. One reviewer muses that it is a Shakespearean tragedy, after all, so of course everyone is supposed to die. "By the time the end finally rolls around, I was hoping they'd all die, and soon." Both filmmakers retain the basic message of racism, but Welles manages to achieve the other aspects of the play as well. Parker does not. Bibliography lists 1 sources.

Othello: Act I, Scene III
[ send me this paper ]
Othello, The Moor Of Venice is perhaps the best of Shakespeare's tragedies. This 6 page paper argues that act I, scene III is the pivotal scene wherein the characters are explored as well as the roles they will play in the culmination of tragedy. No additional sources are listed.

Othello: Compelling Drama
[ send me this paper ]
4 pages in length. Impressive individuals who are distinguished by their words -- apart from the morality or success of their actions -- represent the formula for compelling drama, be it a comedy, tragedy or historical play. Perhaps no better example of this statement is found by examining Shakespeare's Othello, where the sole use of words designates each character as good or evil, whether warranted or not, thereby establishing a certain dramatic element. No additional sources cited.

Pleasurable Aspects of Othello
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page essay that examines what factors that an audience finds enjoyable in Shakespeare's tragedy Othello. The writer argues that a tale that causes its audience to see the world in a new light, from a new perspective, is pleasurable because it forces its audience to see the world with "new" eyes, which is what Othello accomplishes. Also, the writer argues that Othello is pleasurable for its audience because it tells a remarkable love story of extraordinary passion. No additional sources cited.
